The indigenous market in Pisac, around 45 minutes from Cusco reminded me a lot of Otavalo Market in Ecuador, but if I had a choice to go again to either of them I would definitely choose Pisac. Otavalo market was definitely more ‘gringo’ oriented, the one in Pisac is like that as well on any other day, but Sunday. Sunday is definitely the best time to visit the little town, that is surrounded by beautiful mountains of the Sacred Valley in Peru. On this day lots of indigenous people come from local villages to sell vegetables, fruits, etc. There is lots of cafes around the market with the terraces, where you could just sit for hours watching the locals doing their everyday things.
